Birth and Postpartum Doula
I'm Katelynn--a wife, mom to two girls, and an experienced doula. I was led to this work because of my own journeys through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I know first-hand how empowering it is to claim your body and your birth as your own, and make your decisions based on what resonates with you. I bring a calm, loving presence into your birth room and give you physical, emotional, informational, and spiritual support based on your needs. I see it as an honor to be invited by mothers into their birth space--I'm not there to take over and push my preferences onto you, but rather to amplify your voice and walk with you through your experience into motherhood. This is my promise to you: to love you, believe in you, and build you up throughout your journey.
My Philosophy
Birth is a sacred rite of passage that a woman participates in as she enters motherhood; each woman's birth belongs to her and she should be empowered to own it. As your doula, my priority is to make sure you know your options, and provide nonjudgmental support in the birth that you want. I believe this begins during pregnancy, where education through evidence-based resources along with tuning in to your own intuition is key for preparing for the birth you desire. I will walk beside you through it all, being your advocate, friend, and comforter. While I cannot protect you from certain feelings or events that may happen during labor and delivery, I will be at your side through it. As my mentor, midwife Melissa Chappell said, "I cannot guarantee how your birth will go, but I can promise that you will be loved through the experience."
Am I a good fit for you?

We might be a good fit if:
1. You want someone in your corner throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. As your doula, I work for you.
2. You want support in finding quality information that’s evidence-based, while also being encouraged to follow your own intuition.
3. You want to be intentional about how you give birth and are willing to prepare for the birth you want.
4. You recognize the need for support outside of what your provider and partner can typically provide. While I don’t replace either of them, I bring a unique ability to provide continuous physical, emotional, informational, and spiritual support.
5. You understand that my role as your doula is not that of a protector. I will be an advocate for you by encouraging you to ask questions and reminding you when something is veering away from your birth plan, but I will not make decisions for you. If you don’t feel safe or confident in your provider, I suggest looking for a new one.
6. You’re willing to build a strong doula/client relationship with me through multiple prenatal appointments and being open about your wishes for birth. I can support you best when I know you, and you will labor best when you feel comfortable around me.
7. You recognize that while I put forth every effort to be there for your birth, emergencies and illness do happen sometimes. In the event that I cannot make it to your birth due to unforeseen circumstances, I will have a backup doula that I will send in my place if you wish.
8. You want to take ownership over your own birth experience, and recognize that you’re ultimately responsible for your own decisions around your pregnancy and birth. I’m there to support you in your decisions even if they differ from what I myself might decide.
9. You want a doula who cares about you personally and individually--you are not just another woman giving birth, you are a person with unique needs, desires, and experiences and I will treat you as such.
10. You understand that every birth is different, and while I can’t guarantee how your experience will pan out, I can love you and support you throughout the whole thing.
